Junior Culinary Team Canada member travels to India for international competition


Culinary Management grad (2014) Daniella Germond, who is a member of Junior Culinary Team Canada, has departed for India to represent Canada at an international culinary competition.

Germond, who is a resident of St. Catharines and a member of Junior Culinary Team Canada – made up of students and recent culinary graduates from the College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute – was selected to compete in the International Young Chef Olympiad. The competition, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, brings culinary talent from across 67 different nations to India. The competition will take  place over five days as competitors represent their countries in a cook-off in four cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

This is the second season of the event, which is supported by the Government of India’s Ministry of Tourism. First prize for the competition is $10,000 USD.

Germond was accompanied to India by chef professor Scott Baechler.
