Research in the field of food and beverage innovation has been a forefront area of development for the Canadian Food and Wine Institute.

The CFWI has undergone a transformation in the field of innovation through research. Having been given 2.3 million dollars for investment food and beverage innovation projects and 1.7 million dollars for infrastructure, this aspect of the Canadian Food and Wine Institute is a priority project that will propel the success of the Institution in student experience, national exposure and industry significance.

The Canadian Food and Wine Institute Innovation Centre works closely with business, industry and community partners to identify challenges that are in need of real-time solutions. Through applied research projects, skilled student and faculty teams help local businesses and community organizations become more innovative, overcome challenges, and develop, test or simulate new products or processes. Working on real world applied research projects provides students with the opportunity to bring the skills and knowledge they have learned in the classroom to a new level, presenting fresh and innovative ideas to industry partners.
